[News] NCC Wants All Pre-registered SIM Cards Deactivated Within 7 Days

Do you own a pre-registered SIM card? You risk losing it in the next 7 days unless re-register it.

Nigerian Communication Commission has given the various telecommunication companies operating in Nigeria Seven days ultimatum to de-activate all pre-registered SIM cards in circulation.

NCC said this has become necessary due to series of intractable security situation in the country linked to mobile communication, adding that any defaulting operator would face sanction

Director, Public Affairs at NCC, Mr. Tony Ojobo made it known in a press statement that the directive was the fallout of a meeting between Department of State Service (DSS), the network operators and the NCC, and , Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). He said the meeting, which held at the NCC boardroom in Abuja and took into cognizance crimes committed against members of the public either by kidnappers, terrorists, robbers and threats to lives, through the use of such unregistered SIM cards across all the networks.

But don't panic, the operators were also directed to notify concerned subscribers before deactivating their SIM cards. So If you own a pre-registered SIM and you don't want to lose it, please go re-register it in accredited centers before it get deactivated.
