 Due to series of selfie-related deaths and severe injuries, the Russian Interior Ministry has launched a campaign for "safe selfies". And their motto is very catchy "Even a million 'likes' on social media are not worth your life and well-being." I kinda agree with that, seems theirs is worse than ours over here in Naija. At least the height of it all over here (by Naija babes of course), is taking selfies in the bathrooms of any hotel or resturant they find themselves. Though there was the daring one by Davido in his music video "the sound" while sky-diving out of a moving plane, but I guess that must have been under close supervision.

 The Russian government has launched an online guide which includes a chart of graphics depicting stick figure selfie takers in a variety of potentially dangerous situations that includes posing near lions, train tracks, and atop electrical towers . Wow!

 But a lot of these examples are based off of real-life accidents. Last April, a saint petersburg teenager lost her life when she fell on railroad tracks following a trend of Russian youths climbing talk structures to take selfies at the top. A moscow woman also accidentally shot herself in the head while posing with a gun in May.

 According to their online statement, "Each of there cases could have been prevented", "When a person is trying to take a picture of themselves, they become distracted, lose their balance, they don't look around and don't feel in danger".

 Well Russians aren't the only ones guilty of this reckless acts just for facebook or instagram 'likes'. Earlier this year, a civilian plane crashed in Colorado, United State, killing the pilot and his passenger when the pilot lost control of the plane while taking selfies. Well thank God it wasn't Davido that flew that plane in his music video. But on a serious note, who take selfies while flying a plane?
 And there's the man man electrocuted to death in Spain when he attempted to climb atop a parked train to take a photo with is friends. This is something naija peepz and even an African will never do.

"Today technical advances do not stand still, but with all the advantages there are new challenges and threats", Russian ministry official Yelena Alekseyeva told reporters during the campaign's launch Tueusday. "Our bookleft reminds you of how to take a safe selfie, so it is not the last one you will ever take".

 The government's tip to all selfies takers in Russian is "When taking a selfie, be sure that you are in a safe place and your life is not in danger".
